Daniel Leisser

Dear all,

My name is Daniel Green and I am very honoured and privileged to teach English and History at our school and to be a member of such a great team of teachers.

In addition to my work here at the Abendgymnasium, I am also a tutor at the Department of English at the University of Vienna. In my research, I investigate the relationship between law and language with a focus on indeterminacy in normative texts. My latest research projects involve an empirical study on indeterminate language use in the Austrian Civil Code (ABGB), and an investigation of the participatory challenges in the normative space in Austria today. Apart from my specialised work as a legal linguist, other research interests involve applied linguistics and language learning, English as a lingua franca, discourse analysis, and language interpretation in general.

I am of the conviction that every human being can develop critical and self-reliant thinking, which is why this is the very cornerstone of my teaching philosophy. I hope to spark my students’ interest in the study of language and history, and I am very grateful for the warm welcome from both teachers and students.

I look forward to many more fascinating discussions and I wish you all a successful summer term 2017.

All the very best,

Daniel Green
